In Korcula, an island facing the southern part of the Dalmatian coast, we find Vela Luka that with its 4,500 inhabitants is the second biggest town on the island. And situated in a central position close to the port is Hotel Korkyra, an elegant three-star accommodation facility.
The hotel has 58 fully equipped and finely furnished rooms, plus a wellness zone, a restaurant and a bar; but the focal point of the facility is the swimming pool which is located in an internal courtyard, appearing as an oasis of tranquillity with a view of the sea.
The hotel recently underwent comprehensive renovation works through Facta Vera Ltd., a company based in Zagreb that owns other hotels and holiday apartments on the island. The old facility was knocked down and rebuilt. The main façade was completely renovated and enhanced with a new lighting design that exalted the architectonic details.
The façade was equipped with Cilindro (Disano) fixtures that create accent lighting to emphasise the structure from the outside; the entrance columns are lit with Minifloor (Disano) lights that generate adjustable indirect lighting to be functional and discrete; the terraces have Microfloor (Disano) in-ground downlighters. The arches characterising the main façade were redefined with Microfloor Power Led RGB that generate warm accent lighting. The benches in the hotel’s entrance hall were equipped with Koala (Disano) fixtures. The lighting of the swimming pool was also upgraded with embedded Microfloor spotlights to enhance its contour.
The light colours of the main façade help create a pleasant atmosphere. White dominates in the hotel’s internal courtyard. The space is very bright; daylight shines through the windows overlooking the restaurant, while theartificial lights are reflected onto the furniture at the entrance and in the rooms.
