How much does it cost to make a BIM model? Is the price of the BIM higher or lower than the CAD? Can I save on BIM if I already have CAD files?

The cost of BIM modelling varies depending on the type of object to be modelled and the degree of detail (LOD, Level of Detail, defined in the design phase) that you intend to obtain.

Modelling is done through the use of straight lines and polygons and, therefore, the more an object is characterized by curved lines and organic shapes and the more difficult it will be to design using BIM, requiring a greater number of hours of development.

To give a practical example: it is much easier to make BIM models of a table or a prefabricated wall than BIM models of upholstered, or armchairs with curved elements.

Example: BIM model image made by Syncronia. A seat with many curves and variations is an element that is difficult to model in BIM.

With regard to the comparison of BIM vs CAD, the cost of BIM modelling is lower compared to the CAD modelling because BIM creates the most optimized models (i.e. the most simple from the point of view of computing and, especially, parametric, therefore, if I have multiple types of the same product, parametric modelling, BIM allows me to set the rules within which the object may vary, that allow me to obtain automatically different versions starting from the same model.

In practice, BIM modelling has a lower price than CAD modelling because the insertion of parameters allows to obtain n different models from a single object, which  allows to express the range of company products with a fraction of cost compared to CAD.

Syncronia produces native Revit files because they are parametric files: from Revit it is then possible to export the models in CAD, with the advantage of being able to obtain multiple CAD formats from a single BIM model (whereas, conversely, it would not be possible to make a BIM from CAD!)

If I already have CAD models of my products will it cost me less to make BIM models?

The existence or not of CAD models does not affect the price of a BIM model, except in an extremely marginal way: as described in the previous paragraphs, BIM and CAD are very different instruments, so you cannot start making a BIM model from an existing CAD model.
