"King Giorgio Armani", as he is known in the fashion world and by all fashion enthusiasts, has never considered himself an artist despite his many acquaintances and genius in the world of fashion. Shyness, discretion and determination were the key elements that led the designer to pursue his goal.
Born in 1934, Giorgio Armani left his hometown in 1957 to study medicine at the State University of Milan. After about two years, he found work as a window-dresser at the Rinascente in Milan, his first fundamental approach to the world of clothing.
In 1964 his first real opportunity in the fashion world arrived, when Nino Cerruti called him to collaborate with Hitman, the first elegant men's ready-to-wear factory. His first debut as a designer was in 1974 with an extraordinary fashion show at Palazzo Pitti. It was then in 1975 that he founded Giorgio Armani SpA, later expanding to Emporio Armani in 1981 and Armani Privé in 2005.

On the occasion of the great designer and entrepreneur's 90th birthday, Milano Fashion Library has decided to dedicate an entire week to Giorgio Armani.
From Thursday 11 to Friday 19 July from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. an exhibition will be open to the public at his headquarters in via 1 maggio 13 20043 Vanzago (Milan), where an unprecedented number of publications dedicated to him from 1974, the year of his debut, to present day will be on display and available for purchase.
More than 100 Armani books, catalogues, magazines, look books and videos from around the world will decorate the Library's spaces and will also be available from 11 July online at www.milanofashionlibrary.it
