Set among the gentle hills of the Collio region, along Via Subida, Locanda alle Vigne reinterprets the idea of hospitality through the material and emotional language of fire.

Here, architecture and craftsmanship merge to create spaces where heat becomes both a physical and symbolic presence — a sign of welcome and memory.
Designed by AK Plus Studio (Udine), the project stands out for its refined balance of materials, light, and proportion.
Gover srl, a company specializing in custom fireplaces and bespoke interior solutions, brought substance and precision to the project’s core elements — the fireplaces and the custom bar.

The Main Fireplace: Architecture and Symbol

In the restaurant’s main hall, the open fireplace serves as the visual and emotional heart of the project.
Its tapered corten-steel hood, rising vertically from a base of reclaimed terracotta tiles, evokes the silhouette of a wine bottle — a direct homage to the Collio’s winemaking landscape.
Visible even from outside, where the chimney extends beyond the roofline, it becomes an architectural landmark: a contemporary gesture rooted in local tradition.

Behind its sculptural presence lies a custom-designed draft system that ensures perfect efficiency and smoke-free operation, making the fireplace fully functional within a public dining environment.

The Outdoor Barbecue

The dialogue between fire and landscape continues outdoors with a barbecue crafted from natural stone and corten steel.
Resting on a treated concrete base, it blends robustness with refined detailing, seamlessly integrating into the architectural composition.
Designed for professional use, it ensures excellent airflow and clean performance — a blend of functionality and convivial design that connects architecture with the ritual of cooking.

The Gas Fireplace Upstairs

In the more intimate upper-level spaces, the presence of fire becomes subtler.
A three-sided gas fireplace, equipped with multiple burners and electronic controls, offers warmth and atmosphere without smoke or odor — essential in areas dedicated to wine tasting.

It’s a sophisticated balance of technology and aesthetics, extending the experience of fire in a contemporary and controlled way.

The Custom Bar

Gover also crafted the custom bar counter, conceived not merely as furniture but as an architectural feature.
Its materials — wood, metal, and stone — echo the tones and textures of the broader interior, reinforcing the project’s consistent material language.
The result is an expression of precision craftsmanship, where technical expertise meets architectural sensibility.

Fire, Material, and Landscape

Locanda alle Vigne demonstrates how technical mastery can become cultural expression.
Here, fire takes on three different forms — open, outdoor, and gas — shaping the rhythms and atmospheres of the space and defining a new approach to the architecture of hospitality.

In the Collio, where vineyards, stone, and tradition have always intertwined, Gover’s work turns the design of fire into an architectural language — one that conveys warmth, identity, and a deep connection to place.
