Press by MDF Italia is the iconic chair symbolizing the pursuit of excellence in seating design. "When we work with any material," says designer Benjamin Hubert, "we like to push its potential to the limit."
The chair’s name derives from the production process that allows for complex shapes to be created from a three-dimensional veneer. The curvature adds strength to the shell while keeping it light, offering a sense of visual and versatile comfort.
The wood mimics the forms of upholstered seats, highlighting the innovative aspect of the design. Its smooth and essential shell is designed to be durable over time and adaptable to both residential and contract spaces, with a particular focus on the hospitality sector, including hotels, bars, and restaurants.
Shell
The concept stems from research into wood curvature, with a shell made through mold pressing, resulting in a light, sturdy, and comfortable structure. Available in beech plywood, with bleached, black-stained, or Canaletto walnut veneer finishes.
Bases
The chair is available in three options:
- 4 legs: made of metal tubing and powder-coated in matte graphite gray X054. Stackable.
- Butterfly base: constructed from metal wire, also powder-coated in matte graphite gray X054.
- 4 wooden legs: made of beech plywood, with bleached, black-stained, or Canaletto walnut veneer finishes.
The wood used comes from sustainably managed forests. The product is intended for indoor use only.
