Designed to integrate seamlessly into architecture, Egad is a step light that guides movement with discretion. Installed within the garden edging, it illuminates only the tread, ensuring safety without causing glare.

The proprietary optical system, developed by Platek’s lighting engineering experts, precisely controls and directs the light beam, minimizing light dispersion and optimizing visual comfort. Its compact dimensions and minimalist design allow for an almost invisible installation: it is the light itself that defines the space.

Platek’s advanced LED technology ensures high efficiency and long-lasting performance, while the use of high-performance materials makes Egad suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Technical Specifications 

The structure is made of primary aluminum, complemented by AISI 304 stainless steel mounting brackets. The luminaire incorporates a proprietary PMMA optical system and features LED light sources with a color rendering index (CRI) greater than 90. The design is clean and essential, with no visible screws, and uses A4 stainless steel fastening components.

The luminaire body undergoes a multi-stage galvanic anodizing treatment, including mechanical satin finishing, surface degreasing and preparation, anodic oxidation, and final sealing. This is followed by an in-line, double-coat industrial painting cycle consisting of an epoxy-based primer and a polyester topcoat, creating a single, high-thickness protective layer. The combination of anodization and painting forms an extremely effective barrier against weathering and UV radiation, ensuring corrosion-resistance performance in salt-spray conditions well above market standards.

The bonding of the glass components in Platek products is preceded by a surface pre-treatment using atmospheric-pressure plasma, which activates surface energy only where needed, improves wettability, and removes any residual release agents, ensuring long-term adhesion. Subsequent steps include silicone application and automated assembly of the glass onto the luminaire body, guaranteeing perfect sealing.
