The Shanghai Bollard introduces a light geometric sign into outdoor lighting, suitable for gardens, pathways and architectural outdoor spaces. In an outdoor project, it is useful when a controlled, even output is needed to accompany movement without intrusion: the emission enhances materials and surfaces with a discreet yet recognisable effect, supporting balanced atmospheres.

The Shanghai collection by Platek, designed by Maurizio Scutellà, is inspired by a “game of lines”: light rods and optical bodies, adjustable by 180°, generate beams that read as extensions of the body itself. Three different heights encourage compositions based on mixing formats, recalling the idea of overlapping sticks to be released at the start of the game.

Technical features

• Support and optical body made of primary extruded aluminium alloy
• Remote power supply to be made externally with 24V DC constant-voltage transformer, to be wired in parallel
• Rotation pin in AISI 316
• Proprietary optical system with PMMA lens
• Subjected to galvanic anodizing treatment and painted following a continuous two step paint process (epoxy-based primer + polyester-based colour finish)
• Barrier against atmospheric agents and UV rays; corrosion resistance in salt spray declared higher than market standards
• Before fixing the diffuser: atmospheric pressure plasma pre-treatment; silicone coating and automated assembly for sealing
