Aeros for Targetti Poulsen

Aeros for Targetti Poulsen

Aeros by Ross Lovegrove produced for Targetti Poulsen is a paradigm of aesthetic refinement and a huge production challenge because of the technical virtuosity necessary to manufacture it. Nature and art have inspired the design of this pendant lamp characterized by the elaborate surface pattern obtained from anodized aluminum. Lovegrove wished to create an ethereal and fluctuating object, perceived as light despite its size, and between 2007 and 2009 Terenzi S.r.l. invented and implemented a production method efficient for its creation. The adopted solution was a skillfully performed elaborate punching carried out with a rotating three-dimensional stencil plate. The engineering also planned the design and manufacture of special equipment and ad hoc stencil plates to industrialize the product. The last process was anodization, used at first to screen and test both different tones of color and as much methods to create them, until the desired and requested optimal shade was reached.
