Porta Volta

Porta Volta is Herzog and de Meuron's chair that marks a new chapter in the collaboration between Molteni&C and the internationally renowned architecture firm, a historic partner of the Molteni Group. A special edition of the Porta Volta chair will be placed in the princiaple reading room of the National Library of Israel - Jerusalem. UniFor, a subsidiary brand of Molteni&C was also involved in this project, taking care of the restyling of the reading room from the bookcase systems to the furniture.

The Porta Volta chair makes an immediate impact. The key design feature is the solid wood backrest, which, with its U-shape, provides an enveloping and inviting effect. In addition, the backrest pushes forward to give shape to the armrests. For those who wish, the backrest can be divided into two sections with a customisable cushion. Thanks to the three U-shaped tees with a unique curved comb-shaped joint, the element acquires a softness defined by detailed details. The four legs and backrest of the Porta Volta chair are slightly inclined outwards, providing comfort and stability.

The Porta Volta chair offers multiple customisation options to meet any Interior Design preference and requirement. 

STRUCTURE FINISHES

1. Stained solid ash:

- eucalyptus

- black oak

- sunrise oak

- graphite oak

2. Solid canaletto walnut

All finishes have been selected for durability and resistance.

The upholstered seat available in leather and mohair velvet has been specially designed for maximum comfort. The cushion can be customised by choosing from four colours: sunflower yellow, royal blue, daisy pink or silver grey.

For those who want more comfort in the backrest of the Porta Volta chair, an additional upholstery in leather or fabric can be added.

Two different chair sizes are available to meet every need:

1) Version 64,5X54 with h.66cm: suitable for study or living room environments.

2) Version 63,5X54 with h.71cm: perfect for dining environments.

Herzog & de Meuron have combined elegance and sophistication in the Porta Volta chair, adding a sophisticated touch to the living, dining and study area.
