Design: Luigi Caccia Dominioni, 1953

Base Ghisa is a discreet domestic object, yet fundamental to interior design. Its name comes from the Milanese nickname “ghisa” used for traffic policemen, particularly in reference to their dark headgear.

The design is geometric with abstract accents; from the heavy base emerges a play of angles and inclinations that make the structure appear to float in a delicate balance—made possible by the solidity of its materials.

Light becomes the true protagonist of the space, made possible by the dark color of the structure, which seems to vanish into the room once the lamp is switched on.

BIM files in IFC and RFA format, 3D DWG, and SketchUp files are available at the bottom of this product page. You can also freely download the technical datasheets for the Base Ghisa lamp in both Italian and English, in PDF format.
