B&B Italia presents Mario Bellini's Le Bambole in a completely renewed version, conquant years after their birth. These icons of Italian design are evolving thanks to new design choices that make them even more sustainable and comfortable.
The first version presented to the world of Le Bambole dates back to 1972. Soft roundness, softness, gentle harmony and informality are the main keys of armchairs, beds and sofas that marked a point of no return due to their aesthetics, production technique and aesthetic communication. The new version takes on a look and feel similar to the original one with genersoe, curvy shapes that enhance femininity.
With regard to the choice of materials, the original construction was based on a metal structure immersed in polyurethane, today the materials used start with second-life polyethylene that gives structure, to which are added polyurethane foam elements and thermoplastic elastomers that design the geometry and define the comfort, all sheathed in a sub-covering derived from recycled PET.
The basic upholstery fabrics have also been renewed with the inclusion of a new sablé fabric in eight colour variants. The Manila fabric, on the other hand, is characterised by its ironic and dreamlike floral print; finally, the Kasia leather is an extremely soft and naturally marked full-grain.
The Bambola armchair, also part of the Le Bambole collection, dates back to 1972 with its original design awarded the Compasso d'Oro in 1979. Le Bambole marks a design under the banner of sustainability thanks to the renewable materials and construction techniques that allow all complements to be disassembled and recyclable.
